Federal UAS Integration Initiative
In the past, Unmanned Aerial Systems have operated in the United States Airspace on a limited basis, with applications typically being reserved for military operations. With the advancements in UAS technology, the FAA recognizes the value in expanding the use of UAS into the private and commercial sectors.
In an effort to fully-integrate UAS into the national airspace by 2015, The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) created the Unmanned Aircraft Systems Integration Office in order to oversee and facilitate wide-spectrum integration. Effective integration requires a committed collaborative effort between the FAA and the National Airspace Association in order to ensure a safe and efficient integration of UAS in the national airspace.
