North Dakota is Making Headlines

Economic Growth Outpaces Other States for Fourth Consecutive Year

For the past four years, North Dakota's economy has continued to outpace all other states, according to information released by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA). Factors driving the state’s robust economy include continued growth in economic production, new jobs and rising wages.

The Best States to Make a Living in 2014

North Dakota ranked as the #6 best state to make a living by personal finance site, MoneyRates.com.

The site used data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, C2ER and the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index to determine the best and worst states to make a living. They examined the average salary, cost of living, employment rate, and workplace conditions for each state to generate the rankings.

Three North Dakota Metro’s Named in Top 10 

Fargo, Bismarck and Grand Forks were named in the top 10 leading U.S. Metros for economic and job growth by Area Development Online. The ranking analyzes economic and workforce data for 379 MSAs (metro surrounding areas). They produce a snapshot of cities across America that are poised to capitalize on the new potential for economic growth as the United States leaves the recession behind.

North Dakota Ranked Fourth Best State to Retire In

Bankrate.com listed North Dakota as the #4 best state to retire in based on its unique advantages: extremely low crime and even better healthcare. Plus, its residents report the highest level of general well-being in the country.

UAS Business Development On the Rise
IMG_0479.JPGThe North Dakota UAS Team has been busy over the past several months traveling around the globe for Unmanned Aircraft Systems business development. Team members were at ILA Berlin, AUVSI, the UAS Action Summit in Grand Forks and the Farnborough Airshow, UK.

North Dakota, a leader in UAS, was selected as one of six FAA test sites that will conduct crucial research to assist the FAA. North Dakota will assist the FAA in their efforts to develop regulatory standards to foster integration of UAS into the national airspace system. The Northern Plans UAS Test Site became the first site to begin flights in May 2014.

Cummings Ag Expands Operations
Cummings Ag is expanding its operations and services to further process agricultural commodities for commercial processing, marketing and brokerage companies.  The plant expansion is due to enhanced market share.  The expansion increases the company’s storage capacity, efficiency of plant, and allows for the cleaning and processing of a wider variety of commodities. The company plans to construct a new 24,000 square foot processing plant and adding additional storage capacity.
