Business Hotline
In response to a 2005 legislative directive, the North Dakota Department of Commerce launched the North Dakota Business Hotline. Access to this toll-free number, 866-4DAKOTA (866-432-5682), was created to offer assistance to both existing and potential businesses.
The Department of Commerce has developed a system where you can tap into the knowledge base of Commerce department employees and staff employed in more than 20 other state agencies. This allows you to access extensive knowledge about a variety of key business issues such as potential financing options, transportation infrastructure, available workforce, university research and development, and energy resources. If your questions relate to starting, expanding, retaining or relocating a business in the state of North Dakota, the Hotline can be a valuable resource.
When calling the hotline, please be prepared to provide your name, the name of your company (if there is one) and your phone number. The Hotline Operator will evaluate your question and, if unable to provide an immediate response, will transfer you to someone qualified to answer your question. Your call might be transferred to another state agency, entities that partner with state government or outside the state system to local economic development contacts.
Information about your call will be entered into a database and used to determine the effectiveness of the system. The Hotline is operational Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Central Time. There is no charge for this service. The Business Hotline is part of an ongoing effort to improve North Dakota's business climate.
